Measuring & Conversions estimating guides

Fast area, volume, linear-metre and unit conversion tools for site measurements.

What this topic covers

Consistent units are the foundation of every other calculator. Record the raw dimensions, convert them once, and distinguish linear metres, square metres and cubic metres throughout the estimate.

Recommended estimating sequence

  1. Measure the job and keep the original dimensions.
  2. Calculate the base area, volume or length with compatible units.
  3. Replace variable defaults with the actual product or supplier information.
  4. Add a visible cutting, breakage or ordering allowance only where it is justified.
  5. Round the result to whole packs, bags or stock lengths at the purchasing stage.

Quantity estimating helps with planning and ordering. It does not replace structural design, project specifications, manufacturer instructions or regulatory approval where those are required.
